Alarum within
This weekend reminded me in a small way of how many good people there are in the world. Just a thought.
I've found my candidate for 2008. If he's half as intense about the Presidency and his politics as he is in his role in the greatest romantic comedy ever, he's definitely worth voting for.
I upgraded the blog software. It now blocks most forms of comment spam, including the ones that were hitting here hardest. You can comment again, but don't try to link to any card playing sites. I've also disabled trackbacks for the time being. It's not like anyone was actually using them anyway.
One of my biggest chronic personal shortcomings is that I oversleep pretty constantly. I have 3 alarms set each morning, and I generally sleep through all of them for a solid hour. Even then, there are certain nights where I will suddenly pop wide awake at the sound of a child crying, or the cat meowing upsettedly. I understand that this is pretty common, and is some latent parenting instinct that may or may not become important later. It may be going a bit too far, though, when I am snapped out of sleep by the sound of hard drive, not just spinning, but somehow spinning wrong. I realized that the web server was thrashing under the rather heavy load of people referrer spamming uberbrodt.com. My cat and my computer are apparently my children.
Debate meeting tonight. Looking forward to meeting the new folk, and seeing the old.
How does it feel to be on your own, with no direction home, a complete unknown, like a rolling stone?
