Inquizzical for the future
So Benedict XVI, formerly Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, has been elected as the eighth German to wear that rockin' hat. Joe seems like an interesting character: a Nazi deserter, at Vatican II, and long-time head of the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The only concerns I have are that my man has said a few things about taking the "lament" out of "fundamentalism." My fear is that he will also take out the "tame" and "smile" and turn it into a sadly "dental" "and" "nails" kind of experience.
This is way too much fun to have with such a word.
The other bit of news keeping my attention is that the topic selected for the 2005-2006 debate year is China. I'm already busting out the Dillon and all the other realism answers from the Europe topic so I can have something to say when the Big Kids decide to justify being mean to the Other.
Some fun new people coming to the debate meeting tonight. Always good times when you are making new friends.
I step down into sand. Water carries us from here.

Can't get too excited, though, with the news that we're apparently staying in de fact control (Mao sez "Power flows from the end of a gun") long enough to need to call up another 5000 or so Reservists that thought they had retired.
What are the chances all 5,000 didnt read their contract they signed?
By the way; it is "Nucular", or Nuclear? I say: These assholes need to learn how to say it before they threaten to use it.
