Joie de vivre is anathema to ennui.
A bouquet of roses and my undying affection to the first womun I find who can correctly use the work "ennui" in a sentence that is not (a) in French and (b) not a sentence like "I don't know what the word 'ennui' means." So far I have asked about 20 people and not a single one has know what the word means. Next on the survey list: "anathema."
I've got two big trips planned this month. First to Dallas this weekend to go to a wedding with Lizzi and some of her friends. That should be fun, and we're going to Six Flags after the festivities, though I'll be suppressing the urge to shout profanities through most of the ceremony, along with my suggestions that "It's not too late" and "She'll turn out evil" in much the same way that my mother did before my wedding. That seemed to make things go more smoothly. The second trip is something of an attempt to recapture one of the big parts of my senior year of high school on which I feel like I missed out. Academic Team Nationals is in beautiful New Orleans, Louisiana, and I'm going to be there helping out Gene (I don't think I've made him aware of this yet) and getting my groove on with Patrick, Brodt, and whoever else feels like sleeping on the floor of the hotel room. There will be much sipping the sweet nectar of the Gods called Barq's Red Creme, not to mention finding all kinds of fun alcohol to mix with it. The first step will be to call Gene, then make sure that Conrad knows that they are hitting one good team in prelims. I think it would be a good idea for someone else to make sure that Gene pays attention to the schedule to avoid a repeat of my sophomore year's missing-a-round scandal.
I won't remember to remember to forget you forgot me.

hey billy it's conrad
i've seen the schedule already, not only are we up against one good team but two, kinkaid and east varsity are both probably going to thrash us with our total lack of speed not to mention our incompetence at all things relating to the humanities
then again i'm only going for the red creme also
i hope gene does not go crazy and kill you debate kids if he sees you, just remember not to approach him when he's drunk, and have a great time down in the bayou

Sorority life, though fun for some, is anathema to others with austere religious beliefs.
In history class I alleviate my ennui by coloring on my desk. Vandalization is just cool! (thumbs up, ya'll!)

Conrad - East varsity shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Kincaid, maybe, but you can beat a bunch of prep school losers.
Whoever posted the 2nd comment (weird feeling that it's Jennie) needs to IM me (Peculater or YouAreMy7thSeal) so we can continue to use such lofty diction, not to mention to claim whatever consolation prize I can muster for coming in but 6 hours too late.
