Syn....Ack
Districts was fun, as it always is. The bake sale was a blast and we raised about $70 in pity money. I was happy to get to judge the last round that decided who went to nationals between two very deserving teams. Eric and Nick debated well, and happened to have the right evidence for what they were saying. Katie and James did phenomenally for being just sophomores, and made the final round easily the best round of the tournament that I got to watch. It sux0r3d having to pick one to go and one to be the alternate, but Plumwood had spoken.

I was very proud of what all I accomplished at work today. After buying a rather nice piece of hardware to do some important switching and routing stuff, I completely re-designed the company network from the ground up. There is much less chance that any of the desktops here will be hacked, and I now have traffic control over this computer. It's finally built properly, with a trusted and untrusted zone, and a DMZ. It feels good to have various automated checkers go over the configuration and find absolutely nothing wrong with it. It feels even better to have built the controlling systems by hand, from stuff we had laying around the office.

The OU Debate team is apparently going to have a debate camp for the last 2/3 of June this year. Jackie is setting up some administrative trivia tomorrow so we can see what all is possible. On the list for staff include Cody Morrow of UNT, with 2 teams in outrounds at the NDT this past weekend; Ken D of Emporia who is abrasive to the unprepared, but a very good coach; JT also of Emporia who is about the best person in the whole wide world, not to mention an incredible coach not just for his kids, but also for those excitable youngsters who can't find Jackie^H^H^H^H^H^H their coach before a round. Others have expressed interest, and these are not 100% confirmed, but it is the word on the street. Questions, comments, and happy thoughts can be expressed on the survey form on what is to soon be the OU debate page.
"Pucker up for heaven's sake, there's never been so much at stake."
